How Can Abdominal Bloating And Belching Be Treated?

Yesterday I experienced an abnormal amount of belly gas and tried belching for several hours with very little results. Last night and again today, I am experiencing a lot of discomfort when I bend or get up from a sitting position internally in the throat area. Could I have strained my throat muscles or esophagus? I can swallow normal without a problem. What can I take to help my discomfort? Never experienced anything like this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems you are suffering from severe gastritis. Forceful belching has caused strain on your throat muscles because of which you are experiencing the discomfort. It is very important to treat your gastritis to avoid further discomfort. You should start taking a proton pump inhibitor on an empty stomach. Take syrup sucralfate twice after meals to reduce the gastric acidity.

If you are suffering from constipation, that has to be addressed too. You can consider taking laxatives like Syrup Lactulose. You can discuss this with your physician. If the throat discomfort continues, you may have to take syrup Mucaine gel to relieve it. If the discomfort persists beyond three days, you have to consider getting checked by an ENT to rule out any severe injury.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
