How Can Abdominal Pain Be Treated?

I am on 1000mg flucloxacillin 4 times a day and 666mg Calvepen 4 times a day after spending 4 days in hospital for hand infection due to blackthorn. I am suffering quite severe stomach pain and nausea after 3 days on these tablets. Should i take these before or after food and is there something i can take to help my stomach? Best Regards, owen age 34

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Taking the medication with a light snack such as crackers or yogurt, may be helpful.

You may also want to consider medication that may be able to help with the nausea and pain such as peptobismol. Probiotics may also help since some of the gastrointestinal symptoms are due to the effect the medication on the normal bacteria in the colon.

I hope this helps
