Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Abdominal Pain Caused By Eating Out Be Treated?
I have had an abdominal pain since a meal at a Mexican restaurant on Friday. It gets worse after I eat. I thought it was constipation but I have had small round bowel movements twice since. There has been some gas. I believe I am dehydrated (body aches) so I ve been sipping water as much as possible. How can I get the pain to cease? Stop eating? A laxative? I ll feel so much better once it goes away.
Eating out puts you in the risk of getting gastrointestinal infections. Consult your physician. He might do physical examination and a stool routine.
Stool routine will tell you what infection you have got. If it is infection, you need medicines to clear it. If it is food poisoning, you need some supportive care according to your physical condition and vitals.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Jasmine Jagan, General & Family Physician
