How Can Abdominal Pain Due To Crohn S Disease Be Treated?

I have crohn s disease. I am having horrible lower abdominal and intestinal pain, pressure, and bloating. The pressure feels like I need to pass gas and or have a bowel movement, but am unable too. I am also having sharp stabbing pain in lower abdomen. Sometimes feels as if my intestines are being twisted in a knot. This pain came on suddenly about 4 hours ago and has gradually gotten worse. It hurts terribly to sit and walk

Hello,

Cramps and pain abdomen is commonly seen in Crohn's disease due to intestinal scarring and inflammation. You must be consulting a gastroenterologist already, I guess you have been given medicines for the same. As this is a lifelong condition, and to slow down the progression and for symptomatic relief anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressants are given.

Are you taking the medicines regularly? if not then make sure you take these with your doctor’s advice, if the symptoms are there even after regular medicines then I would suggest you to see your doctor as in crohn’s disease regular screening is necessary to see the progression of the disease. Your doctor will examine you and suggest you other treatment options which include surgery but it totally depends on your condition and progression of the disease. Generally it is managed with medicines sometimes dose adjustments are done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
