How Can Acid Reflux And Barret S Esophagus Be Treated?

I had gallbladder surgery over a year ago and I still have all the problems I did before the surgery. I also have had acid reflex for 20 plus years. I have recently been diagnosed with Barret s Esophagus. I am taking medicine for it twice a day and it is not helping. Could something else be going on?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You may want to consider checking for H pylori if this has not been done before. H pylori bacteria can worsen or cause reflux symptoms. You may also need to try an alternative medication or a combination of medications for maximum effect. Lifestyle changes, if not already done, may also be needed. This would mainly involve a change of diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
