Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have heartburn and acid reflux and take 40 mg. Of omeprezole every day, eat no spicy foods, no citrus, not even tomatoes or pineapples or strawberries. I do not smoke or drink, except for lots of water. I have been to the emergency room twice this year with excruciating intollable pain in my chest. Each time, I was just fine by the time I got to the hospital. I believe the bumpy ride helped to get that gas out of me. Why does my heartburn keep getting worse?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe acid reflux which is due to gastroesophageal reflux disease as there is formation of acid in stomach and it regurgitates into esophagus and mouth and causes your symptoms. I would suggest you to take lemon carbonated drink and take a glass of water with one ENO pouch dissolved in it to get immediate relief. Avoid intake of sharp and spciy food. Walk every day 30 minutes after meal and you can also take half cup of aloe vera juice once daily. I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like upper G.I Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly. In case if acid reflux is confirmed as a cause you can be advised to take antacids before meals, take proton pump inhibitor like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole. Take more of yoghurt in diet. You should take short walks after meals. Loose weight if obese and sleep with head slightly raised and recline in left lateral position.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
