Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i was diagnosed with acute hepatitis. But the tests came in negative for all viral hepatitis ie A,E,C etc.. my sgpt level was 4694. yes, 4694- i repeat. i was given hepamerz intravenously for 8 days. and the sgpt level came down to 600 something. now i ve been discharged from the hospital and its been almost a week. but the jaundice still persists. my eyes and body skin are still a bit yellow. my doctor has permitted to eat any food that i want as long as it is retained well by the body. boiled chicken, boiled eggs.while i was in the hospital, my doctor forced me to have some lean protein i.e boiled egg whites and everything was fine though i was a bit scared. i am not constipated nor do i have diarrohea. i get hungry every now and then. but i m scared to eat non-veg food and haven t done so. shall i take my doctor advice and do so? or should i continue my vegetarian diet? also i have a low blood pressure and still under medication(ursodiol-300mg), im losing weight day by day and feel weak. what shall i do?
The symptoms are of acute viral hepatitis and treated of the same is symptomatic in case of seronegative hepatitis.. The symptoms in acute hepatitis resolve earlier than signs bd this is the reason for persistence of jaundice and the same would decrease in next two weeks so no need to worry As per treatment the following must be considered 1. High carbohydrate diet esp glucose powder to maintain energy 2. Cap Omeprazole 20 mg before breakfast 3. Continue Ursidiol 300 mg twice daily 4. Syp Lactulose 3 tsf HS 5. Avoid spicy and oily foods 6. Continue vegetarian diet The above treatment must be followed for two weeks and then tapered
