How Can Allergic Cough And Asthma Be Treated?

We installed new carpeting and I started to have cough and cold symptoms. Then,I inhaled organic chemical cleaner fumes in a closed, hot car for about one hour. I seem to have developed asthma, a bad cough, and ear infection. My doctor is treating me with antibiotics, allegra, and cough suppressant. I am concerned that I have permanently damaged my lung tissue and want to know if there is any treatment for chemically-induced breathing problems. YYYY@YYYY Also, should I consult an allergist or respiratory specialist?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

Temporary exposure to chemical irritants will not cause long term damage to the lung tissue.
There is nothing to be worried out.
Continue allegra and antibiotics as prescribed.
There will not be any long term damage.
