How Can Allergic Insect Bites On The Arms Be Treated?

Hi two weeks ago I was outside, I was in out all through the day I wore my sunscreen when I applied it always burns a little but went on as normal that evening about dusk, there were flying insects . I didn t pay much attention because they usually don t like me, but later that evening I wash off my sunscreen from my arms to put on my moisture cream and I found some what appeared to be bites or welps . I applied alcohol and a cortisone cream. They still are there but they are no longer welped ,but some are flat and appears to have been opend, I now use witch hazel and benedryl cream I also have been taking benedryl by mouth for about a week and 1/2. Each time I use my sunscreen they get worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic and I do understand your concerns.

There is a possibility that you are exposed to insect bites with the symptoms you mentioned. Are there any bumps in the area?

You can compress with an antiseptic solution or boiled water to relieve redness and inflammation. If still not helpful, you can take medications to reduce pain, swelling, and red like mefenamic acid, ibuprofen, etc.

We recommend that you consult your doctor immediately for an examination. Because the right treatment can only be done after knowing the exact diagnosis.

Hope this explanation useful.

Regards,
Dr. Nurul Falah
