How Can Allergic Itching And Blisters On The Hands And Neck Be Treated?

Hi Doc, 3 days ago I pruned a small tree with a dead vine climbing. I didn t know that the vine is poison ivy. The following day I developed pimple-like blisters in my hands and neck. They are itchy. I am online looking for possible meds to contain the spread. I have applied calamine lotion so many times. The itch is suppressed a few minutes then goes back again. I have read in Google that Benadryl is an anti allergy drug. Is it sold over-the counter?

Eruption of itchy bumps all over the body after exposing to trees and vine can be due to common causes like:
Contact Dermatitis that is an allergic reaction which occurs when skin comes in contact with certain fluids of the trees or other agents like latex etc.
Other cause can be severe bug or insect bites in the outdoors.
You need to consult an emergency room or get evaluated thorough a clinical evaluation and investigations like blood test to rule out allergies and infection.
Micorscopic examination of scrapings from lesion can help.
As of now you can take anti-allergic like Benadryl for relieving itching and do cool compresses over bumps.
Yes, Benadryl is available over the counter so you can take it to relieve the symptoms.
