How Can Allergic Itching Be Treated?

Hi there, I am currently having issues with itching of. Night time. My doctor told me to get pills to help me stop itching of. Night time & gave me eczema cream but it still has not helped stop the problem. It helped for a few days, but now I am constantly waking up in the morning to new scratches & red rashes/sores on my back and legs. As it was only on my elbow creases on my arms. If you have any idea how to help it would be much appreciated.

Hi..

Severe itching seems to be most probably due to allergic reaction and in case if you have not changed any shampoo, soap or laundary etc then it seems to be most probably due to any food or medication..

Also if it is always at night then it can be due to bed bugs..

I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like allergic tests like Patch test, RAST test, food challenge test etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

The tests will help in ruling out the exact cause of the allergen and once you know the cause of the allergic reaction you can avoid exposure to it to prevent allergy attack..

The allergist can advise to oral anti allergics as well as injectable steroids for relief..

As of now you can take anti-allergics like Levocetrizine, Allegra to control the itching and swelling..
Do cool compresses..
Application of calamine lotion can help in soothing the skin..

In case of bed bugs wash and disinfect all your beddings and along with it put them in strong sunlight..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
