How Can Allergic Rhinitis And Chest Congestion Be Treated?

I think I have an allergic reaction to something and wonder what OTC medication I can try other than Zyrtec that I am already taking. My symptoms are congestion, cough with mild wheezing, occasional sneezing, but no fever. It began 2 mo ago while on RV trip and I removed some old foam in the RV I thought was the cause after which I improved but symptoms didn t disappear. Now that I am home, my symptoms are still with me. The symptoms have remained (mild to severe) since beginning in WA state, while working in Yellowstone, visiting in CO and have continued at home now in NC so I don t think it is a regional allergy. Please advise.

As you stated, it is not likely regional since you are in a different location at the moment.

In addition to the antihistamine, you may need to add a medication such as singulair or ketotifen or you may need a short course of steroids.

It may also be beneficial to consider allergy tests that can tell you the source of your reaction.
This can be in the form of blood tests or skin prick testing.
