How Can Allergic Rhinitis Be Treated?

My daughter is bothered with allergies this time of year ( a lot of sneezing and blowing her nose). She just blew her nose and said she had a strange feeling in her mid back and it was sensitive in that one spot when she continued to blow her nose. I immediately iced her back and told her to take ibuprofen. Do you think she could have ruptured a disc. She is 17 years old.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Possible causes may be allergy, viral infections, upper respiratory tract infections, acute/chronic bronchitis, asthma. No, she does not have a ruptured disc just a nerve tingling sensation through her spinal cord. Make sure to avoid cold drinks and food, use water vaporizer by the day and humidifier during night, make her gargle with salt water. Nasal corticosteroid sprays (betamethasone), use thrice daily for 3 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
