How Can Allergic Skin Reaction Due To Hornet Sting Be Treated?
My son was stung by a hornet (I think, I didn t get a good look at it) on his shoulder, on Monday evening. Wednesday night he started getting tiny bumps around his neck, that look like goosebumps, they are now slowly spreading to his face. He says they itch a little, but other than that he has nothing else wrong. Can this be a reaction from the sting?
It looks like the small bumps that are itchy too are due to some allergic reaction that can be delayed allergic reaction due to the hornet sting also..
So it is advisable to give him antihistamines/anti-allergics like Benadryl or Levocetrizine and along with it you can apply a combination of steroid and antiseptic ointment over it.. Doing cool compresses can also help..
But in case if the bumps continue to spread then better get a clinical examination done by an Emergency room doctor and if it is infection antibiotics will be prescribed...
Hope this helps..
Regards..
