How Can Allergic Tingling Sensation In The Mouth And Lips Be Treated?

I am allergic to pineapple and ate some accidentally last Monday (a week ago tomorrow). Since then I have had a lot of tingling in my mouth, tongue, lips and throat. I took Benadryl and went to urgent care, where they gave me a prednisone shot and prescribed Claritin and Zantac along with the Benadryl. The symptoms went away for hours at a time but kept coming back, so I would take Benadryl again. By Friday it had gotten worse and I went to the ER, feeling that my throat was filling up or swelling. In the ER I was given more Benadryl, was prescribed a medrol dospak and given a penicillin shot, as they discovered I had strep throat also. I am now getting the same tingling, mouth burning symptoms more frequently and taking Benadryl more frequently, along with the Zantac and prednisone, and becoming very anxious. Shouldn t the pineapple allergy be gone by now, or am I reacting to something else?

I have gone through your query will try my level best to resolve it..

As per your complain tingling sensation over the lips, mouth, tongue and throat which is recurring even after taking anti-allergics and steroids does not seems to be due to pineapple, but seems to be due to some other unknown allergens..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Allergist or Immunologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Allergic tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

Once the allergen is ruled out, you should avoid getting exposed to the allergen to prevent the allergy symptoms..

In case if you continue to get exposed to the allergen and symptoms recur then Immunotherapy can be done to reduce the severity of the symptoms..
