General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Alopecia areata is an immunological effect in which body makes antibodies against its own hair follicles which destroy them and leave round, concentric bald patches.

You should take vegetables (green leafy) and fruits for your vitamin stores. Take a multivitamin. Continue taking vitamin D. De-stress yourself, do meditation.

It is being said that local application of onion juice helps. Oral and local application of steroids is the only remedy which retards the immunological process. Local installation of steroids with a microneedle every week hastens the regrowth of hair. You can continue low dose steroid like betamethasone. This is a dose which hardly has any significant side effects (this much steroid is even secreted by our body) and significantly reduces or abolishes the recurrence.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
