How Can Amenorrhea Be Treated?

Hello my Daughter Lives In a group home. They are trying to start her period even though they were told no by several Doctors here in North Dakota & Washington State that there is nothing wrong with her & to leave her alone. It has been over 20 years since she had even a remote period. She is 33 years old they are giving her Norethindrone 1.5 mg. Is there anything We her Parents can do? Also they did 2 brain scans & found nothing wrong.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your daughter should be fully investigated for a hormonal assay for knowing normality or otherwise of the menstrual cycle & note the deficiency she has causing absence of periods for such a long time. Apart from this... her thyroid and pituitary status needs to be estimated. Thus knowing her basic menstrual status would decide the line of management. Please consult an endocrinologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
