How Can Amenorrhea Be Treated?

I have amenorrhea for 6 months. I am not pregnant unfortunately. I was taking different hormonal medicines as prescribed by my ob. Now, my present doctor asked me to stop all my medicines and wait for my period to come. I am worried that up to now, I still didn t have my period. My last menstruation cycle was December 2016. Do you have any suggestion what should I do next? I am tired of seeing doctors with different plan of care for me.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You would need to determine the cause or source of the delayed or irregular period.

Causes include--(1) polycystic ovarian syndrome-- blood tests for different hormone (testosterone, FSH , LH) and an ultrasound would be needed to determine if this is present

(2)emotional stress or illness

(3)thyroid hormone levels can be abnormal- these also need to be checked

(4)physical illness

(5)high levels of the hormone prolactin- also needs assessment

I hope this helps
