How Can An Ankle Sprain Be Treated?

So on Thursday I was skiing and I fell and landed on my right ankle, I got to ride on the ski patrol thing and they put my leg in a cardboard splint. When I got home we took off the splint and I ate dinner, when I was done eating it was misshapen. The left side of my right ankle was curved inwards and the left side of the right ankle was swollen outwards. We went to the ER and they took x-rays and no break, just a sprain. I got an air cast and crutches because I can t bear weight. On Thursday the 9th I have anoth appt with my doctor and they ll do more x-rays. Do you think it s broken?

Hello,

As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.

You can also apply ice packs for faster recovery.

Take absolute bed rest for two days.

Generally, the symptoms will settle in a couple of days.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
