How Can An Astrocytoma Be Treated?

My husband has a low grade partially respected astrocytoma in the left parietal lobe. A few months back during routine MRI, the doctors saw 2 areas that they say may be tumors but can t be sure. One is in left temporal lobe and the other area is in right frontal lobe. The doctors aren t sure what the areas are and just want to watch them with mri every 6 months. Is that normal protocol in your opinion?
