How Can An Autoimmune Disease Of The Colon Be Treated?

My nephew has an autoimmune disease of the colon. He has urgent and bloody stools. He went into emergency and now is on infusions consisting of 8. He blood count started being greatly affected. My question is: is this the correct treatment and prognosis for my nephew?
