Hi,

I went through your query the condition you have is known as "PICA". You're not alone so many adults I know have it and it can be treated successfully. Most people suffer from PICA has anemia and other nutrition-related disorder. The substances which you eat like a slate pencil will have its own level of contamination and toxicity which will lead to further deterioration of the health. PICA can be of various subtypes:
Geophagia: Dirt or clay eating
Chthonophagia: Dirt eating (archaic)
Lithophagia: Stone or gravel eating
Amylophagia: Starch eating
Pagophagia: Ice eating
Geomelophagia: Potato eating
Cautopyreiophagia: Burned match eating
Trichophagia: Hair eating.

There are the following things which you can do:
1) Talk to a behavioral therapist he will encourage you to follow many proven methods like differential reinforcement and so on.
2) Take a complete hemogram as most people suffering from PICA has anemia.
3) One common remedy is having a "PICA BOX" in this you have to place alternative choices like carrot or broccoli or chocolate whatever is your favourite and you can have it when you feel compelled to eat non-nutritious food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
