How Can An Enlarged Dialysis Fistula On The Arm Be Treated?
I have a male friend, 46, who had a previous kidney transplant which was successful until four years ago. He has been on dialysis since and I notice that his fistula on his arm has increased in size/visually dis- torted (huge lumps); apparently his technicians feel it is still clear so doesn t see any problem although I feel any distortion calls for a change in site for the fistula...
It is normal to have dilated Fistula over a period of time.
Fistula tract can get hypertrophy after 2-3 years.
If it is not blocked or thrombosed or infected, no need to change the Fistula. So better to continue with same Fistula.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
