Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have had an infected sebaceous cyst and have been on flucloxacillin for two weeks. I am also on methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis. My cyst is much smaller still a bit red but not weeping anymore. I have two days more to go. I delayed my methotrexate for a week as was worried about the interaction. Am travelling in Asia and not feeling great. Shall I stop the fluloxacillin now?
Flucloxacillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic which works better in staphylococcal infections. If you have already completed two weeks course then there is no need to continue this antibiotic anymore. Flucloxacillin and methotrexate do not interact with each other.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
