How Can An Infected Sebaceous Cyst Be Treated?

Hi, About a month ago I had an infected cerbatious cyst cut open and drained (by a doctor) and after that they put a breathable dressing on it. A week later I went back to get them to check on it, and they told me to keep a dressing on it. This is still a month ago. The wound from where the cyst was is now beginning to hurt again, and some stuff is coming out of it. I have been putting waterproof post op dressings on this wound. My question is: would it be better and help my wound heal more if I stopped putting dressings on it? I feel like it s not getting any air but it s still open so I don t want germs getting in. Thanks

As I read your query it seems to me you have been operated by marsupialization where wound is not closed so that cyst will be atrophied.

But I think the wound is now start infected.
Yes, You must put the dressing always as directed by your surgeon.

My opinion is that you must visit the doctor for further evaluation. During mean time take antibiotics like Amoxyclave 625 twice a day for 5days.
