How Can An Infected Sebaceous Cyst On The Waistline Be Treated?

Hello, A few weeks ago, I had what appeared to be a zit on my stomach right where the waistband of my pants sit. Through showering, taking my pants on and off and general movement, I didn t realize it popped, and now looks like a dark purple sebaceous cyst. It doesn t hurt or ooze or anything like that, but how can I get rid of it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Well, with inflamed sebaceous cyst the treatment is clear. It must be surgically incised and drained since this is the most effective therapy. After the wound heals then more complex procedure may be required to remove whole cyst and close wound with sutures. Other option is to have antibiotic therapy but then you should take amoxicilin for 7 days. This may not be efficient as surgical therapy however. So It is up to you to decide what is most appropriate but I suggest surgical treatment.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
