How Can An Infected Skin Cut Be Treated?

I got bit at work by a teenager two days ago. It did not break my two layers of clothing and I filled out a report and when I got home, I dressed the wound and noticed skin breakage. Today, despite cleaning and redressing it every 4-8 hours, I noticed puss coming from the wound. What does this mean and what should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
The symptoms you have described suggest that your wound has infected. No need to worry and it can be cured with prompt antibiotic therapy and proper wound care.
I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things done:
1.Start a short course of antibiotics preferably "ampiclox" for five days.
2.If you have pain or fever you can take analgesics like "acetaminophen" or "ibuprofen"
3.Do proper wound dressing from a nearby nursing home with topical antibiotics like "mupirocin"
4.Get a tetanus vaccine done.
5.Check your blood sugar level to rule out diabetes
Do wound dressing on alternate days under the evaluation of a doctor to assess the prognosis.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.

Regards.
Dr.Shinas
