How Can An Infected Toe Nail Be Treated

I have had a yeast infection for over a year after taking heavy duty antibiotics. Have taken diflucan for over a year. Stopped taking it 7 weeks ago, seems to have subsided but now my big toe is yellow & sore. Has it traveled there now? Would using fucidin cream on the nail help or hinder?

Hello,

Infected toenail (yellow & sore) are indicating the infection of the toenail. It could be bacterial or fungal. A photo will help the best diagnosis.

For the moment, I advise to:
-Soak the toe nail in warm water with vinegar and soda bicarbonate.
-Apply alternating warm and cold compresses several times during the day.

If it persists, then you should see your doctor as might need prescription medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
