How Can An Infected Wound Around The Right Ankle Be Treated?

My right ankle has an area where there is a wound that oozes a clear substance, pus, I imagine. My ankle was broken many years ago, and it has a plate and seven screws in it. Within the last six weeks, a sore, which usually scabs up quickly, has not coagulated and keeps oozing. I have a doctor appointment in one week, but I d like to get the oozing to stop before that time. So far, the care regimen has been hydrogen peroxide, betadine, triple antibiotic ointment, and gauze pads. Is there anything that can help close and dry the wound?

Hello,

I think the local treatment with disinfectant and antibiotic ointment is not enough for such a big wound that has been for such a long time.

I think you need oral antibiotics. Cephalosporine class antibiotics may be adequate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
