How Can An Infected Wound Be Treated?

I am a nurse and I am trying to find the best wound care tx for an elderly ambulatory pt with a foot ulcer started out as a blister and then filled with yellow/green pus like drainage and had a very bad odor. the current tx is skin prep to area, I need to know if I should use hydrogel and dry dressing or santyl and calcium alginate?

The best way to go is to send the wound fluid for culture and then start the antibiotic depending on the culture report. Till then a dry dressing is preferable.
