How Can An Insect Bite Be Treated?

I was stung by something 2 days ago, I didn t feel it, but noticed a small red spot on the underside of my wrist, and it felt like something was in there, so I applied neosporin. It now is sore, swollen and red, and it somewhat sensitive. I would appreciate any advise you can provide. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
You can manage the sting as follows.
- Clean the area with soap & water.
- Remove the sting or hairs of insect if lying on the lesion- with a blunt but semi hard object , scrape it gently & horizontally. Do not disturb the / cut or poke the site to cause bruising.Do not scratch.
- Application of ice pacl will reduce the swelling. If that persists you can apply steroid skin ointment/ Take Ibuprofen ( for pain) , Avil( if scratching)
-With these majors, it will resolve in few days- if not or if infected to form pustule... you need antibiotic,Please consult your family physician.
Thanks
