Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was trimming some rose bushes on Thursday, 10/26/17 and something either bit me or stung me under my eye. It was hurting and I came indoors and washed my eye area softly and put some eye drops in my eye and started putting ice packs on it. It has swollen quite a bit (almost looks like puss filled sack in the area) I have taken some benedryl and after 2 days is still swollen and hurts to touch. I am not sure what bit/stung me but I would like to know if there is something else I should do?
It looks like the sting site is infected due to which there is pus sack in the area..
Taking Benadryl can relieve the allergy symptoms like itching and swelling that are common after insect or bug bites but for Infection you need antibiotic treatment..
So my suggestion is to clean the area with betadine solution and apply antiseptic ointment like Neosporin over it.. You can also take anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and antibiotic Amoxicillin.
If still there is no improvement consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
