How Can An Itchy Insect Bite On The Elbow Be Treated?

When is a bug bite a problem? I got a bug bite on my elbow yesterday and area is swollen an area as large as my hand. Usual outside bugs in my area include mosquitoes, ticks and gnats. I don't believe it was a tick and I did not have to remove anything. Area hurts, not overly painful when I bend my elbow. Oh, it itches like crazy and I have used an anti-itch lotion.

Hello,

The area of bite is appearing infected along with allergic reaction to the sting of the toxic organism that bit you. Do not worry as it will improve gradually. You can take anti-allergics like Benadryl or Levocetirizine to reduce itching.

You can also take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and pain. You can apply antiseptic ointment like Neosporin to avoid infection at the bite site. Do cool compresses over the area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
