How Can An Itchy Rash In The Groin Area Be Treated?

My husband has a raw looking rash where his leg meets the groin area. He has used hydrocortisone cream, but it is now worse. It had started yesterday as small red bumps. It does itch very much, but now is a solid area one inch wide and three inches long. What can he use to treat this.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The itchy rash your husband is having on his groin area is Jock itch (tinea cruris) a type of fungal infection (ringworm).

Should apply terbinafin or clotrimazole cream locally.

Keep well dry. Can use clotrimazole powder too.

Don't use hydrocortisone cream meanwhile.

Wish fast recovery.
