How Can An Itchy Red Rash On The Thigh Be Treated?
Hey there. Last night I had what I thought was a mosquito bite that welted up on my outer thigh. Itchy and irritating, but no big deal. When I woke this morning, the welt had turned into a larger bump, red in color, with darker red/purple bruising around it. There doesn t seem to be a bite mark tho. Im a 28 year old male in Ohio, with my only known allergy being Sulfa drugs. The bump is probably the size of a quarter in diameter, with the bruise itself closer to the size of a child s fist. It does not really itch anymore. Please advise. Can send pics if I m able to.

How Can An Itchy Red Rash On The Thigh Be Treated?
Hi, Yes, it looks like some bite only as your explanation of a localized area of bruised and lump that was also itchy can be due to biting only. So my suggestion is to apply a steroid ointment like Betamethasone over it and do cool compresses over it at least 2-3 times a day. You can also take anti-allergy medicine like Levocetirizine or Benadryl to see if it heals. In case if there is no improvement consult the ER and get yourself checked.
