General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

An open wound due to cellulitis might take a while to improve. It is important to have a good drainage and debridement of the wound and probably having the proper antibiotics that might cover the bacteria that might be causing the wound to stay open.
If the wound is not improving maybe a complication with infection being deeper and affecting the bone (osteomyelitis) may be considered and needs to be ruled out with xray and or CT scan of the bone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
