How Can An Open Wound Below The Knee Be Treated?

I have an open wound from when I fell about 2 days ago, I know I needed stitches but its too late now, I am just wondering if I should be doing anything different to care for it. Its about 3 to 4 inches long and it is below my right knee where it bends. I have been cleaning with water and peroxide.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

My guidelines as a consultant surgeon to cure the issue early:
- Still after 2 days, you can get stitches for best results; think of it.
- Sterile dressing with polymycin cream.
- Prescription of antibiotic, anti-inflammatory drugs from your doc.
- Proper rest to the wound part for better healing.
- Avoid exposure to dust and pollen.
- Keep the blood sugar under control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
