How Can An Umbilical Hernia Be Treated?

My 22 year old daughter just called me from college and said she has a bellybutton hernia. The connection was bad so I didn t get much info from her. Can she wait 6-8 weeks until school is out for surgery? What does this all entail? What kind of Dr/Specialist does the procedure? Thank you.

Hello,

It is not an emergency that not to be taken care of. Only if there are strangulation redness and twisting pains, then we should take urgent care. Kindly take him to a general surgeon who is experts in treating this condition.

Medication will not help and require surgery, but it can be scheduled at your convenience. Nothing to worry much.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
