How Can Ankle Injury Causing Toe Numbness Be Treated?

I hurt my ankle about 3 weeks ago (thought it was a sprain) and about a day or two after the initial injury the right half of my big toe and the left half of the 2nd toe went numb. They are still numb today and the ankle doesn't seem to be getting any better. Thoughts?
