General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Loss of appetite is not a side effect of knee replacement surgery so he should be taken to see his doctor to find out what is the cause of the decreased appetite.

Physical examination and blood tests would be needed.

He may need an appetite stimulant to help promote eating but it would be best to find the cause and treat it appropriately.

I hope this helps
