My husband 83 just had knee replace 4 weeks out and has not eaten more than a few bites aday. He drinks boost 3or 4 times aday Has lost lbs from his 6 ft frame...weighs in at 162 , can walk real good, how do we get food in him and make him start eating....I am getting fearful
Loss of appetite is not a side effect of knee replacement surgery so he should be taken to see his doctor to find out what is the cause of the decreased appetite.
Physical examination and blood tests would be needed.
He may need an appetite stimulant to help promote eating but it would be best to find the cause and treat it appropriately.
I hope this helps
