General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Oxycodone is pain revealing medicine acting on central nervous system. a narcotic, does not have effect on inflammation. So it forms just a symptomatic , habit forming effect. I feel you should consult a rhumatologist (joint specialist) ,& get advised for medicines affecting basic cause of your arthritis ( anti inflammatory drugs, steroids as per need & physiotherapy when pain is controlled. This should be supported by pain management by proper relaxation of body & mind - self suggestion for pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
