How Can Asthma And Arthritis In The Knees Be Treated?

I have asthma and arthritis in my knees. I am obese. I struggle with retaining fluid in my legs. I know if I eat gluten and sugar it gets worse. I have looked for natural solutions and found B6 helps. I am currently on prednisone for an asthma flare and my legs are great. Why is it such a struggle to manage this and why has the prednisone helped so much? What else can I do? I have been prescribed a med ...lasix (sp) and that did not work for me.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Prednisone is a wonder drug has anti-inflammatory anti-allergic & bronchodilater action. So it is helpful for both of your problems. But long use of the drug is hazardous to health (susceptibility to infection by reduced infection). So it is only for short term remedy. So it's use should be restricted in emergency & maintenance health in comfortable zone has to be with other medicines under expert care & life style changes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
