How Can Asthma And Cold Be Treated?

HI, I have asthma and use albutrol a couple of times a week before a going for a run. But I started coming down with a cold and it exacerbated my breathing. I am using the rescue albuterol every few hours and the nebulizer with a combo of Ipratrooium and Albuturol. It is really hard to catch my breath. Doing a treatment now. Should I start antibiotics?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Most cases of the cold are viral and do not require or respond to antibiotics. Antibiotics only help with bacterial infections and over use with viral infections result in persons developing resistance and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

It would be best to see your doctor as soon as possible since you are having difficulty breathing despite the use of a nebulizer and inhaler.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
