How Can Asthma, Cough With Phlegm, Exhaustion, Wheezing And Vomiting Be Treated?

I was dx with asthma yrs ago but had not needed an inhaler for multiple yrs. I have been exhausted, with a nasty cough. it was intially productive but for the most part I couldn t get anything up. except white thick phelgm i puke up multiple times in the evening and late at night. I am wheezing and coughing violently.I have to sleep sitting up. my pa said i have walking pnemonia and asthma is acting up. I am on my 3rd antibiotic, using a rescue inhaler every4 hrs and cough suppressent with codeine. I am still vomiting food and thick white phelgm. please help.. any thoughts....this saturday it will be 4wks.

Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make following suggestions for you:

1. Were I treating you, I would suggest you an antacid like pantoprazole/omeprazole and a controller medicine for asthma like montelukast and inhaled corticosteroids for at least 2 weeks. If improvement, I would suggest you to continue the medications for 4-6 weeks and then decide further.

2. Should you have wheezing or breathing difficulty symptoms, you can use rescue inhaler like salbutamol or levosalbutamol on as-and-when-needed basis.

3. I would suggest you allergy testing as it would help you identify the substances you may be allergic to and also to know the measures to avoid them.

Based on allergy testing report, an Allergist-Immunologist may prescribe you allergen specific immunotherapy to gradually improve allergy symptoms.

4. In general, I would suggest you to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution.

5. Please have plenty of warm fluids during day and have a light diet until you recover.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead and a quick recovery.

Thank you & Regards.
