How Can Astrocytoma In The Neck Be Treated?

I was diagnosed with a class 1 astrocytoma in my neck in 2004. It is inoperable because it is located next to my spinal cord. Although MRI s have revealed no growth, My legs have become weaker over the years. do yu believe the tumor has destroyed the nerve fiber and I am having CIDP symptoms as a result?

Hello,

If that is impinging on the nerve root then definitely you will compression syndrome along with palsy if it has destroyed nerve root also. So it's better you get a repeat MRI to know the current status and then evaluate. Usually, if there is no surgical repair option, the then symptomatic approach can be given like painkillers, nerve growth factors, vitamin B complex tablets all that can heal the nerve growth. But best would be surgery if you can go to higher centers.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
