How Can Atrial Fibrillation Be Treated?

I ve just been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation. I take Elmiron (Pentosan Polysulfate Sodium) for Interstitial Cystitis 200mg twice a day-total 400mg. There s discussion about the advisability of having me take an additional blood thinner. What s your take on this?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
AF (atrial fibrillation) is conduction disease of heart. In fact this rate and rhythm, both are abnormal.
So you should take anti arrhythmia drug (diltiazem or amiodarone) for rate control in the atrial fibrillation (AF).
You can also go for radio frequency Ablation (RFA) after consulting cardiologist.
Since you are already taking Almiron, no need to take additional blood thinner.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
