How Can Atrial Fibrillation Be Treated?

I have recently had a pacemaker due to sick sinus syndrome and afib. My surgeon recommended a low dose aspirin, my cardiologist wants me to take blood thinners. I have been healthy, and requested an ekg at a visit for a tetanus shot. The next thing I knew, I was in an operating room having a pacemaker put in. I am trying to use natural blood thinners to avoid taking the prescription ones. Do you have any recommendations?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I don't think that taking natural blood thinners may help you with your condition.
In my opinion considering your health condition you should use blood thinners as the cardiologist suggested, and have regular check ups of INR (blood thinning index), because of the risk of bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
