How Can Atrial Fibrillation Be Treated?

I am having trouble getting my AFIB controlled with medications. I have tried many different ones and they don t work. I am now on Metoprolol Succ ER. I have been on it for three days and so far it is not working. Could it possible work in the next day or so? Why don t medications work on me?

The treatment involves digitalis along with other drugs. However an underlying thyroid dysfunction has to be ruled out by tsh measurements from blood.
