My mum has terrible condylitis causing pain in her back and shortness of breath. She is in lots of pain and getting little sleep. Has been two weeks, she s seen a consultant who has done tests. Pain does not seem to be controlled by regular pain killers. How can I help? Can it be cured? She is 74, was very fit and active.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, she may need more potent analgesics like tramadol or gabapentin as pain doesn't seem to be controlled by conventional painkillers.

Among NSAIDs Naproxen can be used along which has better response in such pains. Nerve pain specialist can be consulted as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
