Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a neurostimulator for back pain. My pain is reduced about 70-80 percent, but the remaining pain is severe enough to limit my mobility (walking farther than 100 yards, standing for more than 15 minutes). Would a lidoderm 5% patch be appropriate to relieve some pain to improve my mobility?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM I have read and understood your concern. The use of lidodem 5% patch has been known to produce good results with backache when used as adjunctive therapy to more traditional modes of treatment.I will advise you give it a try.If it works, fine. However, treatment options for back pain may include: -Different lines of pain drugs depending on pain intensity -Myorelaxants -Steroid shot occasionally -Physiotherapy -Surgery I will advise you go ahead with lidodem patch and observe. If no improvement, you see your Doctor for evaluation and better management. Hope this will help Wish you good health. You may write back if more concerns Best regards
